Six-year-old Ariella Hopkins of Milltown had just graduated kindergarten in June 2015 when she passed away from a sudden illness. Since then, her parents, Bobby and Lisa, have worked tirelessly to keep her memory and smile alive.
An area park was named in her honor, complete with bronze plaque and podium, and Ariella Hopkins Day was held, with more than 700 people in attendance and $30,000 raised for scholarships and to benefit veterans and their families.
Last Christmas, the first after Ariella passed away, her family held a toy drive to benefit area children in need. CASA of Union County was lucky to have been chosen as a recipient then -- and we're touched the family did so again this year. This means the children we serve will have a brighter holiday because of those that love Ariella. What better way to pay tribute to Ariella than by ensuring she helps other children smile?
Thank you, Hopkins family and loved ones, for keeping the children we serve in your hearts this holiday season -- right alongside Ariella.
