Development Manager

Position Summary: 
The Development Manager is responsible for performing an array of fundraising and communications activities as well as ensuring the accuracy and completeness of donor records and reporting. The Development Manager supports special events, manages annual fund activities and leads various fundraising and communications. S/he is also responsible for managing Giftworks and Greater Giving databases, ensuring data integrity and analyzing giving trends.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1) Individual Fundraising and Communications
• Execute mailed appeals, including developing content, designing the material, generating the mailing list, setting goals, and following-up with donors.
• Execute donor stewardship program to provide routine updates to donors throughout the year. Develop donor communications and campaign material, including impact updates, informational materials, and email updates and solicitations.
• Track the ROI of all activities, including mailings and email/digital communications.
• Serve as primary contact with individual donors concerning the status of their contributions and other
cultivation and stewardship matters.
• Develop strategy to expand network of donors and create a more consistent and diverse stream of income, including maintaining and expanding a giving society.
• Perform prospect research and briefings on prospects.
• Support colleagues on developing social media content and overall communications strategy.
• Support fundraising efforts of the Board of Directors and Development Committee.
• Perform other duties as needed.
2) Special Events
• Work with colleagues to plan the Foster the Dream annual gala and 5k fundraising events, closely managing all vendors, the overall timeline, and working with the leadership committee to maximize fundraising results.
• Organize cultivation events, as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

3) Database Management
• Manage and maintain Giftworks and Greater Giving databases, accurately tracking individual donor and prospect data, and entering all donations and pledges from individuals.
• Generate queries and reports as requested.
• Update and issue gift acknowledgments. Maintain electronic files of letters and donor checks.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant work experience in development with event-planning experience.
• Ability to articulate mission, vision and goals, and provide donors and prospects accurate information, prompt service and personal attention.
• Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Superior organizational and planning skills for balancing multiple projects and responsibilities.
• Flexibility to attend fundraising and networking events after work hours occasionally.
• Solid relationship-building skills, ability to interface with external constituents and multicultural teams.
• Strong experience developing a variety of communications materials.
• Strong computer skills: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet searches.
• Donor-database management experience.
• Successful experience managing communications and developing graphic design.
• Ability to motivate people in support of specific causes.
• Clarity and transparency in communications; strategic listener; team player who collaborates and motivates staff, volunteers, board and donors.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.

Salary
Part-time position 25 to 30 hours weekly; $23-$27 hourly
